How to glue wallpaper with a stretch ceiling: gluing features

Pasting the walls is the final finishing operation of the room. Many are familiar with the process, but you need to take into account the features of the repair if stretch ceilings are installed in the room. The lifespan of the wallpaper is much shorter and during the operation of the suspended structure, it has to be changed several times. When performing work, they strive not to violate the integrity and not to stain the canvas.

How to re-glue wallpaper with a stretch ceiling?

If damage cannot be avoided, take immediate action. Otherwise, the tensile forces will work and the cut may grow large.

If wallpaper glue comes into contact with the material, it must be removed immediately. Without this, the canvas will be damaged.

When planning to change the wallpaper, I recommend taking care of the necessary building tools. There is nothing unusual in the list, almost every element is present in any home:

  • assembly knife;
  • large brush (preferably several different types);
  • special glue;
  • spatulas of various widths;
  • needle roller (optional);
  • composition for removing old sheets (can be replaced with plain water).

After making sure that everything is at hand, we get down to work.

The nuances of removing old canvases

To remove your old sheets, follow the instructions:

  1. After dismantling the ceiling plinth or decorative strip, cover the stretched canvas (for example, with a wide spatula). Gently with a sharp knife cut the removable sheets along the top, around the entire perimeter (even if they were glued after installing the ceiling).
  2. Liberally moisten the paper with a special remover. In the absence of such a substance, simple warm water is used. Use a needle roller to help the wallpaper get wet. Use it carefully near the ceiling: it is easy to damage the canvas.
  3. After waiting 10-15 minutes, pry the edge off with a spatula and try to remove the entire sheet as a whole. Having completely removed the old wallpaper in the wetted area, proceed to dismantling the next one.

Upon completion of the work, the surface of the walls is primed. Can be additionally leveled with putty. We perform actions near the ceiling with increased care so as not to stain it.

It is not worth completely leveling the walls, otherwise a very noticeable ledge will form.

The process of wallpapering will be different depending on the method of hiding the technological gap between the wall and the canvas. It could be decorative insert or plinth. The use of any of these products has its pros and cons.

We measure the height as accurately as possible and cut the sheets along it. This is done so that you do not have to adjust the length directly on the walls after the sticker.

This undercut significantly increases the risk of damage to the tensioning structure. Therefore, cutting is performed on the floor, and the drawing is adjusted there, if necessary. There are more inconveniences, but the canvas is safe.

Pasting with masking tape

Before pasting, it is completely removed. Carefully work with old and new sheets near the structure, so as not to harm. After the tape is installed, returned to its place.

Finishing without dismantling the ceiling plinth

If a ceiling plinth is used, it does not have to be dismantled. In this case, the wallpaper is glued back to back. This is requires increased attention and caution from the master not only when pasting walls, but also when removing old wallpaper.

The sequencing problem: how is it right?

So what should you do first? Professionals can easily perform work in any sequence. Performing this process on your own, it is better to first complete the manipulations with the walls, and only then proceed with the arrangement of the ceiling.

Doing it yourself is not easy, but doable. I advise you, in case of doubt in your own abilities, turn to professionals. So you can be sure of the quality of the repair.
