I don't know about you, but my husband and I arrange all romantic evenings in the kitchen. We have a very comfortable dining area, with all the necessary items and food always at hand. And what can best decorate a romantic setting? Of course, candles, especially handmade ones. Openwork candles in a marine style attract attention, and even look very impressive during burning. • Wax or candles
  • Wax crayons or eyeshadow
  • Molds for candles or packaging for cream, juices, etc.

  1. In order to make such candles, first of all, we will take any paraffin candles. I buy them at a hardware store.

  2. I chose a square shape for my candles. To save money and not buy special forms for candles, I use packages from cream or 200 gram juices. Their main advantage is 6 layers, of which the inner layer is polyethylene. Wax does not stick to it, and you simply cannot find better forms.

  3. Next, you need to grind the candles with an ordinary knife. I cut the candle, while carefully pulling out the wick, since it will be useful to us too.

  4. In order to hold the wick, I use a regular wooden skewer. These skewers are available at hardware stores.

  5. We put the wax in a water bath. We melt it on the stove. After boiling water, the wax begins to melt quickly enough. It is better to remove the saucepan a little earlier (the wax will melt from its own temperature) before it darkens.
  6. And in order for our candles to acquire a beautiful blue color, I use ordinary children's wax crayons. They give beautiful and bright colors to candles. Their colors are very varied and the final product turns out to be bright and rich.

  7. I also discovered another way to dye wax - cosmetics. These are old unnecessary shadows, cosmetic pencils or lipstick. They will add a beautiful pearlescent shine to our candles. They have one more advantage - when the candle burns, the smell is almost imperceptible.

  8. In this case, it is the shadows that I will use in order to give our candles a beautiful aqua color. Well, the secret of the delicacy is that we use ordinary ice.

  9. I prepared it in advance. The ice needs to be crushed a little, since our shapes are small and large holes will not look so great. Pour ice into molds.

  10. Fill with hot wax. Thanks to ice, the candle freezes very quickly: it does not need much time.

  11. Literally after 20-30 minutes, the candle can be taken out of the package. I open it very carefully, as the melted ice has turned into water, and all of it must be drained. It is best to carefully cut the edge of the package with a knife. The candles are almost ready.
Release the candle from the mold
  12. If the edges do not suit you and you want them to be smoother and more rounded, you can trim them with a knife or melt them with an ordinary hair dryer or iron.

  13. It remains to decorate our candles. To do this, you can use any thread floss, ribbons - whatever. And in no particular order, I rubbed the candles with blue pearl shadows with my finger.

Our candles are ready! You can decorate the interior with them, it is a wonderful gift and just a beautiful and necessary thing. This composition can be supplemented with a nautical-style soy sauce bottle and decorated accordingly. But more on that in a separate master class.
