Almost any owner has a variety of different tools. But none of them has as many applications as the grinder. It seems to be a simple angle grinder, but if you just put another disc, the functionality changes. What are the different types of tool attachments? In addition to the fact that they come in several sizes, the elements also perform various functions - they cut, polish, grind. Let's try to understand this issue in more detail.

Wheel sizes for grinders

Choosing the next circle for angle grinders, you should check the diameter of the nozzle. This external indicator should be within the permissible limits, but not more.

If the size of the grinder's disc according to the documentation should be equal to 125 mm, then 230 circles should clearly not be used. Why? There are reasons for this:

• the cutting edge will move at a higher speed, which will lead to damage to the wheel and, accordingly, injury;

• a compact power tool will not master the work with a larger attachment;
• If you put a disc that is too large, you will have to remove the protective cover, and this already goes against safety precautions.

All circles are standardized in their parameters. Their inner diameter is the same. Only the external is different. All of them are specially marked by the manufacturer, in which all the necessary information is displayed.

3. For working with ceramic tiles, red bricks, porcelain stoneware and concrete. Diamond wheels are used. Of course, the nozzle itself is metal. It's just that a mass of abrasive is applied to its cutting surface, to which diamond chips are added. There are two types of discs on sale. Segmented wheels allow dry cutting, solid wheels require water cooling.

4. For cutting wood. Outwardly, they are no different from those used in circular saws, but for safety reasons it is better not to use them. People are very often injured from such a tool, since the disc periodically strives to jam, bounce and slip off in every possible way.

Attention! If an irresistible need arises to use the angle grinder for cutting wood, then this must be done in compliance with all safety measures. The tool must have both a protective cover and an additional handle. The user works only in personal protective equipment: glasses and gloves. Such circles should only be used on wood. But it is better to take discs that are equipped with a chain, like the one used in chainsaws. If the wheel is jammed, the chain remains stationary, while the attachment itself performs idle rotation.

Ripping and stripping discs

1. Cord brushes for roughing or stripping.
2. End abrasive nozzles. For sidewalls of workpieces.
3. Petals. This is a special type of circles that are made from abrasive cloth of varying degrees of grain. The quality of the result directly depends on the grain size.
4. Felt circles. They are used when it is necessary to polish the surface to a mirror state, while using polishing liquids or special pastes.
5. Fiber tips. For metal surfaces.
6. Chain and circles-planers. For working with wood. To do this, you need to put an additional handle on the grinder.

Sandpaper can be fixed with Velcro on the attachment. In this case, it is attached to the spindle of the grinder.

Milling

Among the wide variety of discs for power tools, you can find options for milling. There are only two varieties of them - classic and cutters. • cleaning the edge and end parts of objects;

Sharpening

For sharpening, ordinary discs are used: they are the same for grinders and machine tools. The main thing that distinguishes them from cut-off ones is the thickness, as well as the ability to use the side part for work.

The cross section of such circles is not less than five millimeters. They are used not only when it is required to sharpen the cutting edge of the tool, but also to clean surfaces from welding marks, and even if it is required to roughly process the part.
