How to assemble Fokin's flat cutter correctly

Fokin's flat cutter is used in summer cottages, vegetable gardens, garden plots, as well as for cleaning house adjoining areas. Its versatility is great. If desired, the tool is replaced with a shovel, chopper, rake and other devices that are in the gardener's arsenal. And you can assemble a flat cutter yourself and use it on a par with other tools.

How to assemble Fokin's flat cutter correctly?

The design of the classic device is as simple as possible. It consists of a metal nozzle, a wooden or plastic handle and two bolts with which both parts are connected to each other.

Versatility is the main advantage of the device. It does not have to be reconfigured, and convenience depends on the literacy of use.

Original flat cutters have a brand located directly on the nozzle. The large letter "F" is embossed directly on the metal. Sometimes it is replaced by a special sticker, on which the inscription "from Fokine" is necessarily present. This does not mean that the tools of other manufacturers are worse or better.

What does the cutting look like?

The holder for the nozzle comes in different configurations. Some of them are universal - a nozzle is attached to them in various configurations. Others already with sawn holes - suggest a certain angle of inclination of the metal tip.

A feature of the handle is an oval shape, which can be seen in the section. This protects the gardener's hands from calluses, and the cutting does not scroll during work.

The thickness of the holder is about 18–20 mm. For self-production, the instructions indicate the need to draw two parallel lines relative to the axis of the handle, departing from it at least one and a half centimeters. These will be the holes for the bolts, which are slightly offset from the center of the handle.

The standard handle length is 130 cm, but in stores you will find a small tool with a length of 110 cm or a large one with a handle of 160 cm. It is a must for short and tall people.

Ways to assemble a flat cutter

For large and small tools, there are two options for the same assembly:

1. Screwing the inside of the nozzle to the handle. So you have to make less effort when weeding the beds.
2. Fastening with the outer side of the metal tip to the handle. To cultivate the soil will require significant physical effort from the gardener.

On a large Fokin flat cutter, it is permissible to mount the plate parallel to the handle. In this case, the knife will be perpendicular to the handle. Another option is when the knife is located at an angle. This is made possible by additional holes in the large tool holder.

Fastening is carried out with bolts and nuts. For a long service life of a flat cutter, we recommend laying metal washers larger than the fastener head.
