Irrigator - what is it, how does it work

An irrigator is an electric device for oral hygiene, the device cleans the teeth from plaque and rinses the gaps between the teeth, gums, taking out pieces of food from there. This happens by supplying a jet of water or other liquid.

The irrigator has a special motor that pumps water / liquid and is powered by an accumulator or battery (power supply if it is a stationary device). Liquid is poured into the tank of the irrigator - filtered water, disinfectants, deodorants or therapeutic agents for the oral cavity. The motor pumps it up and feeds it into the handle hose. The handle has a working head through which the jet flies out. The fluid is supplied either continuously or at intervals. It is possible to adjust the power, speed and pressure of the jet. The tool penetrates into the gaps between the teeth, gums and washes away all the dirt from there.

Overview of the irrigator WI-911 from B.Well

B. Well WI-911 is a portable irrigator for cleaning the oral cavity. The unit is small in size and light in weight, so it is convenient to take it with you on trips. The model belongs to impulse devices. Pulse irrigators are considered the most effective. In them, water is supplied in pulses / intervals. This method of fluid supply cleans up to 99.7% of contaminants in a matter of seconds. The capacity of the device is not as large as that of stationary models, but it is more than enough. The case is one whole handle. The device is comfortable to hold in a medium-sized hand. The power is adjustable in three modes: standard / normal, soft / soft for people who have sensitive teeth and gums, pulse / pulse to massage the gums. Two standard nozzles are supplied with the device, they can be used to clean teeth and braces. Not suitable for tongue cleaning. WI-911 is also suitable for cleaning braces. The working head rotates 360 degrees. The manufacturer conditioned this on ease of use. The lithium-ion battery lasts for 4 weeks when using the irrigator once a day. The device comes with a power adapter to charge the device anywhere. The water tank is separated from the main body. There are two ways to pour water into it - vertically and horizontally. Classic, pleasing to the eye design, reminiscent of medical equipment. There are three buttons on the body - one for removing / installing the nozzle, the second for turning on the device and the third for selecting the mode. The connector for charging the irrigator is protected by a rubber insert.

If your unit has not been used for a long time, it is recommended to wipe, rinse and dry it.

  1. First you need to fill the tank with water or another suitable liquid. To do this, either disconnect it from the main body and pour liquid from above, or open the side cover of the tank and pour liquid through it. Reassemble the device.
  2. Put the nozzle on the irrigator and place it in your mouth. Turn on the device by pressing the on/off button. Choose the mode that suits you.
  3. Hold the tip 1 cm away from the surface of the teeth/gums. Try to make sure that the water jet falls strictly perpendicular to the teeth.
  4. If you wear braces, you must first clean them. Start also from the end, moving towards the center along the wire, stopping at each lock. Now on to the teeth themselves.
  5. Start brushing the back (molar) teeth, slowly moving towards the front. You need to linger on each tooth for 2 seconds. Thoroughly rinse the interdental gaps and gaps between the teeth with gums. You need to wash your teeth on each side.
  6. After you have finished using the irrigator, turn off the device. Spit out any water that has accumulated in your mouth and drain any remaining liquid from the appliance. This is done so that bacteria do not multiply in it.
  7. Rinse nozzle and fluid container. Wipe them or turn on the device for a few seconds to dry it.

User reviews about the irrigator WI-911 from B.Well

67% of users in their reviews on Yandex. Market and Rozetka positively evaluate this irrigator. The main complaints of 33% of the remaining users are related to poor build quality / materials, frequent defects, marriages and battery problems (it burns out after a month of use, and service centers refuse to accept devices under warranty, the seller also does nothing).

Consultants respond to such reviews that the battery can “burn out” if water gets on the board. This is usually due to you holding the irrigator too close to your teeth. Because of this, part of the water jet returns inside the device and hits the board, so it shorts out, and the device fails. Since such a breakdown is classified as misuse of the equipment, it is not covered by the warranty. If you replace the battery, but do not clean the board, it can turn on / off on its own.
