- Possible malfunctions and ways to eliminate them
Using a gas-fired boiler in your home for heating is a very good and economical solution. This device is easy to install and easy to use. However, like any equipment, the unit has the tendency to become faulty, often it is all about the damping of the gas burner. To find out the cause of the problem, it is necessary to understand the types of gas boilers and their device. In this article we will tell you why the gas boiler goes out, tell you what to do and how best to solve this problem.
Varieties of gas boilers
These units are divided according to the type of installation:
- floor;
- wall mounted.
The first type of gas boilers is more powerful, thus it can heat a large area of the room. They also have a long service life, this was achieved thanks to the manufacture of heating elements from such metals as steel and cast iron. However, for the installation and best performance of these gas boilers require a separate room.
As for wall units, they have smaller dimensions, respectively, and the weight is also less, this allows you to mount them on the walls. This type of boiler has a lower capacity, they also have a significantly reduced service life, and they are more demanding to clean the coolant element, and the type of heated liquid. The advantages of these devices include small size, which greatly simplifies installation, without requiring separate rooms, as floor-standing units.
The design of the gas boiler
The principle of their work is the same, they are separated only by design, there are several types:
- are single-circuit - mainly used for heating small rooms and residential buildings;
- are two-circuit - they are also able to heat the premises, however, in addition to this, they can heat water for domestic or technical purposes.
With regard to the removal of waste products - gas boilers are equipped with special systems with:
- natural cleaning - in this case, gas boilers are directly connected to the chimneys, which lead to the top of the roof. Thus, the natural combustion occurs in the combustion products. Combustion air is taken from the room, but the chimney must be high, at least 500 mm from the ridge of the gas boiler. Otherwise your boiler will blow out and go out.
- forced cleaning - gas heating units are connected to a coaxial chimney, this design is a "pipe in the pipe", both lead to a closed combustion chamber. Combustion products come out of one pipe, and air comes in through the second, which supports combustion.
We turn to the method of circulation. There are gas boilers dependent and not dependent on electricity. In the first case, the system is an electric circulation pump, which creates pressure. Also in such boilers there are many complex machines and sensors, thanks to which the process is regulated. The latter do not require connection to the electricity grid, thus they get an advantage, and when you do not have light, you will still be able to use the gas boiler.
Possible malfunctions and ways to eliminate them.
We now turn to breakdowns of these units. The main signs of breakdown are the following:
- Gas boiler does not turn on - in this case, the problems may be the following:
- malfunctions with the burner ignition system;
- lack of voltage on the gas boiler;
- check the gas valve, maybe it is closed;
- in the gas boiler chamber insufficient gas pressure;
- check the burner itself, it may be clogged.
As for repairs to boilers, it is not recommended to do it yourself( except for minor external repairs), since this unit is dangerous, and in case of violation of any element, it may lead to malfunctions in operation. All repair activities must be carried out by specialists. As, for example, when improperly cleaning the nozzles on the burner, it can cause the light to come off and go out of it, which will lead to damping.
- Gas burner damps - the causes of this problem may be related to:
- the lack of reverse thrust in the gas chamber;
- malfunction with a thrust sensor;
- may have poor contact with the thermocouple;
- in case you have an electric boiler, then it is possible that power surges occur in the network;
- depressurization of connections on the supply pipeline.
Fault with a malfunction is mainly found in boilers with an open system for removing waste products. At present, all gas boilers are equipped with special thrust sensors, which, with a lack of thrust, automatically burn out the burner. However, if on the contrary, a lot of it is hello to the fast intake of already developed gases, because of which the flow can tear the flame from the burner - the automation in this case also blocks the gas so that it does not waste into empty air after a flame break.
It is easy to determine the condition of the throttle in the gas boiler; for this purpose just bring the match to the open boiler, in cases of normal thrust the flame will burn normally and it will be slightly directed towards the inner body of the gas boiler. In case of excessive traction, the flame on the match simply goes out.
Such problems arise because of violation of the rules for the construction of the chimney for the boiler, namely, an insufficient height above the roof or vice versa if the height is too high. The solution to the problem is quite simple - you need to find out the condition of the draft, and with its lack, reduce the height of the chimney, and accordingly, increase its excess. It is also recommended to clean the chimney in order to give the products of the waste a large area of output. It is also often depressurization, it can be found with a soap solution and patched.
The boiler does not light up when the sensor responsible for the measurement of thrust malfunctions - it cannot be repaired, only the complete replacement of the element is required. It is easy to detect a malfunction, it is necessary to close both terminals on the sensor, and to light the boiler, in cases of full operation of the unit, replacement is required.
At bad contacts of the thermocouple, the gas burner will immediately fade, in this situation they can be cleaned independently.
- After switching on the boiler does not pick up the temperature inside the combustion chamber - any damage is specific and it has a reason, in this situation they may be the following:
- there is not enough air in the chamber where the gas is burned;
- wrong chimney construction or it is just dirty;
- failure of the electrical components of the boiler system;
- in case you have a double-circuit boiler, the system for heating water consumes a large amount of electricity.
- The boiler does not respond to shutdown commands - is in automatic type units, shutdown occurs by itself when the temperature in the room has reached the specified value in the program. The device with which the ambient temperature is determined is called a thermostat, it transfers data to a processor that is built into the command board.
We told you why the gas boiler goes out and how to fix these problems. However, do not forget that any problems, except for work with the chimney, must also be performed by a trained specialist with a certificate.
