What to do if water does not enter the washing machine drum

If you, as usual, covered the powder and loaded the laundry, turned on the machine, and the water did not go to the drum, the washing will not start.

If the machine does not collect water, the problem should be solved without delay. Next, we consider the reasons why water does not flow into the drum of a washing machine, and show effective methods for solving the problem.

Material content:

  • 1 Finding causes and checking
  • 2 Why there is no water in the drum
  • 3 Possible failures

Finding causes and checking

It’s not a fact that the water is not flooded due to some kind of breakdown. First, eliminate the elementary causes that may cause no water in the drum:

  1. Check the water supply in the water supply system. A washing machine usually has its own valve that opens and closes the access of water. Probably, someone twisted it by mistake or carelessness.
  2. Check the integrity of the inlet hose. It could burst( then you find a puddle at the typewriter) or clogged. It is not excluded and bend in case of improper installation.

Take the laundry out of the drum and de-energize the appliance, then check the tap and the integrity of the hose.
  3. Is the water supply and the set hose all right? Turn off the machine and try to understand why water does not flow, or call a specialist.

. Why is there no water in the

drum? The first reason that water does not flow into the CM drum is that the intake valve is blocked. It accumulates small debris from the water supply system, which is held by a special mesh filter.

The filter is installed on the outside of the SMA housing, just before the inlet valve. To get to it, you need to unscrew the filler hose.

Warning! Unscrew the suction hose by hand; do not use tools to avoid damaging plastic fittings. The filter itself is more convenient to get with pliers - it is deeply seated in the groove.

After removing the screen, rinse it under the tap and clean it with an old toothbrush, then reinstall it. The hose also does not hurt to flush from a possible blockage, but at the same time inspect for bends and cracks.

If, however, checking and cleaning the filter did not bring the expected results, and the test wash showed that water still does not enter the drum, it could be a more serious failure.

Possible failures

The drum is not filled with water for several reasons, often an empty tank is accompanied by an error code on the scoreboard or a combination of flashing lights. If you did not throw away the user manual, you will quickly understand what caused the problem.

Consider the main reasons:

  • Breakdown of the intake valve - it could “burn out”.Wash does not start until you replace the item.
To replace the valve, you must remove the top cover of the machine. Beneath it, you will find coils that are admitted or blocked by the cores of water.

Note! The solenoid valve, as a rule, is beyond repair.

  • Failure of the control board in machines with electronic control. In mechanical SMA, the programmer breaks down. Water does not flow due to the fact that the control unit does not send a signal about water intake. Module need to "flash" or change to a new one.

Important! If replacing a module is not the most difficult repair operation, then its firmware requires experience, equipment and a special tool. The board is an expensive part, so trust the mechanic so as not to increase the cost of repairs.

  • Breakage of the pressure switch - level( pressure) sensor. If the sensor breaks, the machine does not estimate how much water is coming in or not coming in, which means that the wash does not start. The sensor must be replaced - its repair is impossible.
  • Breakage of the blocker. If the UBL breaks, then the corresponding light bulb will be lit on the control panel. In this case, water is not collected and the wash does not start for your own safety.
UBL is also not repaired - it needs to be changed. On how to change the lock in the washing machine, we wrote in previous articles.

Important! Perhaps it’s not a blocker breakage, but that you have closed the door loosely. Try to close the hatch again and restart the wash. Also, in addition to the UBL, the hinges could be loose on the door or the tongue of the blocker itself could be bent.

We recommend to start self-repair only in those cases if you have repair skills. And if you see the screwdriver and tester for the first time, call the service and fix the problem quickly and professionally.
