How to glue the washing machine tank

Replacing bearings or repairing the drum of a washing machine requires disassembling the tank. Sometimes he breaks himself. After reading the article, you will learn how to properly disassemble and seal the tank of the washing machine, which means it is better to use.

Material content:

  • 1 Causes of breakdown
  • 2 How to get the tank

Causes of breakdown

It would seem that it could break in the tank - because washing clothes occurs in the drum. However, moving parts often fail, or the walls are deformed.

Causes:

  • Bearings and seals are faulty.
  • Due to the wear of the bearings, the shaft is deformed.

  • Deformation of the walls also occurs due to bearing wear. Sometimes their tightness is disturbed, as the drum is in contact with the walls, causing friction.
    In this case, you already have to think about how to repair the hole in the washing machine tank.

There are two types of tank designs that are used in modern machines: collapsible and non-collapsible.

In the first case, the two halves are bolted together, which is enough to unscrew for disassembly.

In the second case, the parts are soldered using ultrasound, which combines them into one solid structure. For disassembly it is necessary to cut the washing machine tank into two parts, and then glue them together.

Before we figure out how to cut and cut the tank of a washing machine, consider the sequence of its removal from the case of a washer.

How to get an

tank. Consider how to do the work, using the example of AGR Indesit:

  • . After disconnecting the machine from the network, remove the top and rear panels by unscrewing the bolts.
  • Remove the drive belt from the pulley.

  • Disconnect the wires leading to the heater.
  • For further work, open access to the lower part of the AGR.
  • Loosen the clamp holding the drain connection to remove it.
  • Unscrew the shock absorber nuts.
  • Go to the top, unscrew the securing load, remove it.
  • To remove the powder receptacle tray, unscrew the screw at the back.
  • Remove the dosing tray, unscrew the screws on the control panel.
  • Remove the panel by disconnecting the connectors.
  • After disconnecting the nipple, remove the detergent tray.
  • Remove the cuff by removing the collar.

  • Remove the pressure switch by depressing the latches.
  • Remove the tank from the suspensions and remove from the body.

The sequence of work Now you can begin disassembly, after which you will learn how to seal the drum and washing machine tank.
  1. Place the product on a flat surface.
  2. Remove the load from it by unscrewing the fasteners.
  3. Remove the motor by unscrewing the locking screws.

Preparation is over. Next, you need to identify the places where the screws will be mounted. Sealing the washing machine tank does not end with the use of adhesive. Additionally, drill around 3 mm perimeter for fasteners. In total, they should be from 15 to 20.

Arm yourself with a thin hacksaw for metal and blade. Having established a tank on an edge, begin a cut from the top. Use the blade where the hacksaw cannot pass.

Pay attention! You should not go deeper than 5 cm. Otherwise, you may damage the drum.

Spray the seam alternately with water. This will help avoid heating the walls and make it easier to cut.

After receiving the two halves, pull out the drum. For this:

  1. turn the back of the tank;
  2. disassemble the shaft on which the drum is mounted;
  3. for this, unscrew the bolt;
  4. remove the pulley;
  5. with a metal bolt on the shaft, knock on it with a hammer;
  6. remove the drum.

After disassembly another question arises: how to repair and seal the plastic water tank?

Inspect parts from the inside. If they are badly damaged, do not waste time on repairs. Replace glands and bearings as necessary.

How to achieve tightness

Sealant or glue to the tank of the washing machine must meet the conditions of its operation. That is, to withstand changes in temperature, vibration, pressure, exposure to water. Therefore, the choice must be approached responsibly.

How a sealant can be used to glue a washing machine tank:

  • Permatex 81730. Glue-sealant has a fluidity, thereby effectively sealing all seams and cracks. The transparent waterproof seam is resistant to extreme temperatures( from -62 ° to 232 °), shocks and strong vibrations.
    The ideal solution for those who are looking for something to glue the washing machine tank after repairs.
  • Fastens movable seams due to its elasticity. It is widely used during exterior construction work. Able to withstand critical temperatures up to + 315 ° C.Economical consumption and durability provided.

  • Glue F. A really powerful tool - you don't even need to additionally fasten the parts with screws. However, there is a minus: when re-disassembling the tank will again have to be cut. It is more expensive than sealant.
  • ABRO 11AB-R.This sealant provides a reliable effect even in extreme conditions. It is resistant to high and low temperatures, mechanical stress.

After selection, it remains to apply a sealant on the edges of the halves and fasten them.

Now tighten the screws in the prepared places. Feel free to collect the car and run the wash to check.

Doing such work on your own is a feat, but you can do it if you arm yourself with our professional advice.
