The infrared heater coped with the task quickly, heating the air to 20 degrees, then turned out to be automatically turned off by the thermostat. Thermometer recorded bed temperature at 27 ºС.An oil radiator of equivalent power looked much more modest, eventually heating the air. However, the temperature of the bed remained at 17 ºС.The author prefers a cold bed and warm air, but most, as you know, thinks otherwise. We add that the oil heater has a thermostat, both devices do not need human control.

By the way, infrared devices spend less energy, because the efficiency is higher, reaching an unprecedented value of 95%.

The principle of operation of thermostats

So, both devices from the experience are equipped with thermostats. In the oil heater, the element measured the temperature near the radiator. In the case of an infrared lamp, the principle is different. The thermostat is supplied in a separate enclosure and measures the temperature at the installation point. The infrared heater hangs on the ceiling, and the temperature is measured, say, near the door. It makes a big difference.

Consider moments that are not so obvious at first sight:

  1. Everyone understands that oil heaters do not support anti-freezing temperature in a house. It is simply meaningless, the devices are not endowed with great flexibility in the sense of thermal conditions. In this sense, the thermostat of the infrared heater is much more accurate, able to perform complex work.
  2. It is simply dangerous to leave a bunch of oil heaters in the house, fire is possible. This comes from the fact: the radiator heats up, and then transfers heat to the air. This is potentially dangerous, electrical wires are stretched inside the device. The wall-mounted infrared heater works differently. A discharge occurs inside the lamp, energy is carried away by radiation quanta. Actually the device is not heated. Heat is received not by air, but by surrounding objects. If you hang the infrared heater on the ceiling, the floor temperature rises.

This looks amazing. Especially in industrial environments. The infrared heater hangs high, and the body feels warm, as if the sun is shining overhead. Energy is transmitted not by convection of air masses, but by radiation, to which the distance is not an obstacle.

Let's enter the third item in the previous list. The efficiency of infrared heaters is higher than that of oil:

  1. The money spent on company accounts will be less.
  2. Electrics in the house is not so hot.

In the light of the above, it turns out that infrared heaters have proven the convenience of the method of automatic temperature maintenance.

The first requires current energy to work, the second serves as a switch, does not depend on the operation mode of the local network. Some people like it all the time, coming home, manually changing the settings, others prefer electronics, which do everything themselves. The price difference is small. Choose according to your taste.
