It is impossible to plant a plum in a place where a freshly rooted garden was growing. The ground deposit must gain strength and nutrition for at least 4 years. The best soil for wood is loam or sandy loam. Plum roots go far inland, and they should not be washed by groundwater. If there is a problem - you need to plant a tree on a ridge with a height of 50-70 cm, and drain the area along special ditches. After planting, plum care will include a gradual annual expansion of 10–15 cm of the bed radius - a place for the roots.

For good yields, you need to plant plums of different varieties that are compatible for pollination. Trees should be located at a distance of at least 3 meters. Nearby should not be shading plantations.

Dig up the area where the drain will grow, dig as deep as possible. Ideally, 70 cm. This technique is used to saturate the earth with air. Place under the plum start to cook for 2-3 years before planting a tree.

If the earth is acid, it is lime. In addition to lime, sand and ash are added to the peat soil. The application of organic fertilizers after their treatment with EM-1 Baikal will be suitable for the restoration of fertility. Planting plums and care, after preparing the site, will not cause difficulties.

How to choose suitable saplings of

There are three ways for a gardener to purchase planting material:

  1. In a nursery where you can buy a varietal sapling and pollinator. You can also get the necessary advice on the characteristics of the variety, and how to plant a plum. Choosing a sapling, be guided by the presented picture. If you can choose a plant with an open root or in a container, it is better to take an open one. It clearly shows all the nuances of development. The root should be in the clay mash.
  2. You can get free planting material using cuttings. Take young twigs from the mother plant that had time to blush, carefully separate and hold in water for 10 days. Callus will appear. Sprigs rooted in a substrate of sand and peat, watered with phosphated water. Roots will grow in 10-40 days. By the time of the onset of stable frosts, sprinkle the shoots completely with peat and leave for the winter.
  3. Grow a seedling from a stone.

Any sapling should be no older than 2 years. When planted, the buds should be swollen, but not open. It is impossible to buy a sapling with dry buds in the spring - it came under frost. Autumn planting is made 1.5 months before frost is steady.

In the fall, the sapling is not pruned. In spring, twigs should be shortened so that a weak root system can feed a small amount of ground mass. The rule is that the weaker the seedling root system, the more shoots need to be cut, at the same time forming the crown.

The fruit pit is prepared in advance, filled with substrate from humus, phosphorus-potassium fertilizers and half of the fertile land. Roots are placed on the knoll and gently poured on top of the usual upper ground. At the same time the soil is compacted to force out the air. The root neck should remain above the landing level, but be covered with powder. Later the tree will settle. In the fresh hole, after planting, pour a few buckets of water and mulch. From the north side establish a stake to which the sapling is tied. Care of the plum after planting consists in timely watering and loosening the soil.

Spring plum care

In the spring, not only trees but also insects are waking up, disease spores. Therefore, the care of the plum in the spring begins with the preventive spraying of copper sulfate. It is possible to carry out the first spraying nitrofen to destroy the hibernating mites. In addition, trapping belts are installed, tree trunks are whitened with the addition of insecticides to the lime. To protect the plum, four times treatment with copper sulphate with a strength of 1% is required:

  • for swollen kidneys;
  • on the green cone;
  • for flower buds;
  • one week after flowering.

Prophylactic treatments are carried out to destroy the pest colonies hibernating in the garden.

In order for the tree to direct its forces to the formation of a crop, pruning is done in the spring according to the scheme for young and fruit trees. The purpose of pruning the seedling is the correct formation of the crown, the creation of the correct ratio of the central shoot and fruit tiers. At the same time, skeletal branches are formed, and extra inter-tiered formations are removed. Pruning is done in such a way as to make dormant buds work, because the whole crop is only on young growth.

Adult plum is subjected to sanitary and thinning pruning. After spring formation through the branches, the sparrow must fly in a straight line in all directions.

Another tree was just the beginning of sap flow, and a portion of natural organic matter was added to the trunk circle of an adult tree. Care of the plum in the spring ensures the restoration of the strength of the tree after wintering. Therefore, fertilizing and abundant spring watering are necessary measures. When watering add ammonium nitrate to calculate their matchbox in a bucket of irrigation water. Careful attention to the tree will save him from the weevil and other misfortunes.
