The cozy atmosphere, delicious smells from the prepared food, the familiar atmosphere of the kitchen. But there is a downside. It happens that something burns, boils, the constant presence of increased humidity and an unpleasant smell of gas. And the feeling of comfort is gradually smoothed out. There are annoying odors, traces of fumes and gradually showing signs of grease on the walls and ceiling. What to do in this case. You can open the windows for ventilation. But in winter you won’t open the windows, and the fan, even the most powerful one, is not able to completely eliminate such problems. It is designed to create circulation and discharge of polluted air, but the amount of kitchen space in cooking food is constantly supplemented with new odors and for its complete elimination the fan must work continuously.

Developers and manufacturers of household appliances took these points into account and consumers were offered various options for the design of hoods. Installed directly above the locations of the stoves (gas, electric, induction), hoods ensure the complete removal of contaminated air masses.

These devices are not an alternative to traditional ventilation systems. Used in the complex, they allow you to achieve positive results when removing or cleaning the air in the kitchen. But an inclined or domed hood: which is better for a particular apartment or non-residential premises?

The range of designs offered is constantly expanding. The consumer does not have a question of where to buy, more often the question arises of what to choose. First you need to decide - the hood is inclined or domed? Do you need an autonomous hood with air purification (circulation), which does not require connection to ventilation shafts and systems or is it flowing. The first is more compact, which is important for small premises.

Characteristics of hoods

Dome hoods are a type of suspended construction of ventilation systems. It may also be a design with circulating air purification, but most often “fireplace” type models are used.

These models consist of a dome structure of various shapes (hemisphere, square, rectangular) and duct systems of corrugated metal pipes connected to a common ventilation system. They can be equipped with additional replaceable filters, ventilation equipment, providing forced air intake and supply to the duct.

Dome (hanging) hoods are optimally suited for a large area kitchen. In this case, they can be used not only as a household appliance, but also as a separate part of the interior, which is often used in design developments. Another advantage is the possibility of their installation anywhere, depending on the location of the cooking surfaces. But this advantage can also be a disadvantage. For direct-flow dome structures, air ducts and additional electrical wiring will be required, which is not always appropriate when decorating the interior of the kitchen space.

Inclined (built-in) ventilation devices take up little space. This is considered the main indicator in favor of these models. However, the installation of inclined systems requires a wall and there are not many options for location. If the plate is located against the wall, there are no problems. And if the main working area is located separately, at a distance from the walls, then it is almost impossible to install an inclined structure.

If we compare the performance of modern exhaust systems offered by manufacturers, then everything depends on power and design of installed equipment (engine, fan, shape and size of the “ceiling”, “Screen”). To increase performance, individual models of dome versions can be equipped with several fans with separate motors, but this greatly affects the noise level of the device. The installation of additional equipment in inclined structures is an increase in size and leveling of the main advantage, the compactness of the device.
